Covid-19 pandemic accelerates the demand for protective and anti-bacterial yarns and fibres in China

Over the first half of 2020, the daily capacity of medical protective clothing manufacturing in China surpassed 1.5 million pieces, which served the domestic consumption for fighting the pandemic. The total of four months’ (Jan – Apr) consumption of protective clothing in 2020 in China amounts to about 33 times the total consumption in 2019.

As China gradually recovers from the pandemic, it continues to export protective necessities worldwide, retaining its position as a global factory. In turn, the demand for raw materials such as viscose, polyolefin fibres and high density polyethylene is surging.
